Google has gone and done it again

Google has gone and done it again…What this time you ask? A Wearable Computer this time!!

Google Inc is currently in the process of developing the “Google Glass,” an optical head-mounted display.
According to TechRadar.AV, the Google Glass is an attempt to free data from desktop computers and portable devices like phones and tablets, and place it right in front of your eyes.

Ok so the device is fundamentally a camera… Yes…it includes display, touchpad, battery and microphone put together in a single glasses frame making it easy to settle line of sight. It will enable users to technologically mobile on the run.

So apparently the idea of such a technology has been in play for a while, and now it’s becoming a reality.   The first question that comes to mind though is “how or won’t this obstruct my vision?” Don’t worry according to Google the display is "the equivalent of a 25-inch high definition screen from eight feet away". There's no official word on native resolution, but 640 x 360 has been widely mooted.

One of the major benefits of the Google Glass is the first- person perspective which will allow users to capture if desired, what they are actually saying.  Most of its features would be activated via microphone and touchpad on one arm of the frame, and get this, users will be able to select options and functions with a succinct motion or by talking to the device, and Google Glass will interpret your commands.

Alright so the specs look like this built-in camera is a 5MP snapper that can film at 720p, 16GB built-in flash, built-in Bluetooth and WiFi, additionally the frame will come with replacement and adjustable nose pads, and is expected to be both lightweight nevertheless extremely robust.

But wait…don’t you want to know how much all of this will cost, you can have a color of your choice ranging from Charcoal to tangerine for  a small price of $1,500 US that is.

Of Course there is a lot more I can say about this device but it would take a while so follow the link below if you want to know more.

So is the Google Glass Cool or what? Let me know what you think. I think it’s another revolutionary device that will do well on the market.

    2. I guess the bulkiness you are speaking about is the unnatural and peculiar feeling you get when you are the center of attention. Imagine wearing such a device and walking through SGU in the hot sunlight. You may pull a crowd. However, it is my opinion that people would get used to wearing and seeing others wear the technology as time goes by. Also, as the technology improves, it may become less intrusive. Just to note, I share your sentiment. I would enjoy like to have the experience; nevertheless, it does not put me out.

  3. In reference to this post and another where you wrote about the smart watch from Samsung, we are seeing a paradigm shift where wearable technology is in fact the 'style' of the day. It won't be surprising to see smart shoes or smart undergarments (the function of this one would be interesting to know). We just have to wait to see.

    1. YES!! I really am excited about the development of those, more so to see exactly how they would construct it and how will it incorporate human comfort. But at the same time, don't you think the invention and rise of "smartware" is making us more lazy and machine dependant ?!
