Wonderloop, the Worlds First Video Platform
For the past few years we have had many new social media sites, from Hi5 to Myspace to Facebook to Twitter to Instagram etc and yet still it seems to be that another one surfaces every six months to a year. For those of you who actually live for or enjoy social networking you can gear up to start another social networking account again as the new kid on the block Wonderloop picks up speed.
Wonderloop is said to be the "first social network with video profiles...allowing users to make the same type of first impression you would make in real life." Just like the other social networking site Wonderloop is also open-ended, linking you to friends and family etc.
The iOS app currently in invite-only beta and users can create video profiles limited to 20 seconds, which include a name location and any number of tags. The app however does not allow browsing of other profiles until their own has been uploaded. Founder of the App, social media consultant in Norway, Hanna Aase, "you can quickly check out a huge variety of people, but you're not tied down to a specific use case. Chatting with a developer in Spain is just as easy as meeting a blogger who lives in your neighborhood."
This app seems to attract the richer kids of society especially since, most of them are the major investors in the app. Wonderloop is expected to could revolutionize social networking in particular the way in which "people discover those who share the same interests – or at least the way the privacy-conscious young and wealthy connect."
I think that this will grow fast but among the "richer" of society, in my opinion what would be interesting to see is if this will bring in more revenue that facebook for its owners more so because of who is investing in it. I don't think that I will sign up for this, more so because I am more comfortable with the written platforms, and I believe most folks, especially form our part of society. Either way I am excited to see how it goes.
What do you think? Will you be signing up?
Let me know !

A very interesting new social media platform, but as always we have to be mindful of privacy and security issues before we mindlessly accept it.- Keiran
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, but by now everyone should know that the World Wide Web is not the safest of places. So these opportunities are an "enter at your own risk" kinda thing
DeleteI might try it, sounds interesting, but Facebook for the win though.
ReplyDeleteOk another one again great until it gets outdated but welcome to the new kid on the block
ReplyDeleteLOL I know right, these things never last, Facebook is the only one that I have seen that has really been able to make a name for its self
